Beijing, Nov. 8 (Xinhua, By Wang Huiwen) -- The World Digital Economy Forum opened in Beijing on November 7. The forum, themed "Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development", was sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and organized by the Service Center for Societies of CAST, and China Institute of Communication, co-organized by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and other institutions.

The forum focused on four topics: "Digital Economy and Sustainable Development", "Digital Cooperation Co-existence and Green Development", "Digital Technology Innovation and Digital Transformation", and "Digital Ethics Issues in Digital Economy Era". Renowned experts and scholars from global digital technology, economy, industry and other fields talked with around 100 guests in the session. More than 750,000 people met online in the "cloud meeting".

In the name of the organizing committee, the forum released the "World Digital Economy Forum Initiative" and put forth six initiatives: First of all, to build a digital technology innovation ecology, second, to promote the digital transformation of the economy, third, to share the dividends of intelligent society, fourth, to shape the values of data elements, fifth, to discuss digital governance solutions, and sixth, to strengthen global digital cooperation. All parties were called for to accelerate the formation of more development consensus, achieve more pragmatic cooperation, and join hands towards a better future featuring mutual benefit, co-existence and win-win outcome.

After the first World Digital Economy Forum's success in 2020, this year's World Digital Economy Forum was one of the thematic sessions of the 3rd World Science and Technology Development Forum. With its attention on both China and the world, the forum brought together the best intellectual resources of the global digital economy, striving to build an exchange platform of openness, sharing, cooperation and trust.
